Additional Relevant Experience:

  • Iiro is particularly interested in novel solutions in management plans, habitat management, threatened species and participatory processes
  • Iiro holds a MSc from Turku Univeristy, specialising in ecology and biodiversity issues. His thesis was about fragmentation of traditional rural biotopes in the Rekijokilaakso River Valley in SW Finland.
  • He has led several international projects such as Interreg IIA (development of management and monitoring methods of traditional rural landscapes in Southern Finland and Estonia), Interreg IIIA (Reed strategy in Finland and Estonia), European agricultural fund project and projects of Nordic Council of Ministers.
  • Iiro is one of the founders of Association for Traditional Rural Landscapes in Southwest Finland.
